The call for nominations for the 2011 IDDY (IDentity Deployment of the Year) Awards is still open! We encourage you to refer partners and organizations that could be good candidates for the award program. Past winners are among the best and brightest in the identity marketplace, and we look forward to honoring this year's recipients at the RSA Conference, February 2011. This fifth year of IDDY Awards will honor deployments and proofs of concept of all identity specifications anyone that utilizes any open/ standard identity technology, including ID-WSF, Identity services from the Cloud, IGF, Information Cards, OATH, OAuth, OpenID, OpenSocial, OPML, PKI, RDF, RSS, SAML, WS-Security, WS-Trust, WS, XACML, XDI, XMPP extensions, XRD, XRI, etc., is encouraged to participate. Below you will find documents that outline the judging criteria for the proof of concept (POC) and the deployment categories. The application forms are available as well. Kantara Initiative announces 2 new Discussion Groups: EUM & BCTF

Kantara Initiative is announcing the formation of the 2 new Discussion groups. The Kantara Initiative European Use Case and Market Discussion Group (EUM DG). The purpose of this discussion group is to identify and raise awareness of Use Cases that are of particular importance to Federation and Identity systems in the European Union market. The convener of this group is Serge Ravet. Identity Collaboration Day Across User-Centric, Enterprise and Government Identity Initiatives Monday February 14th, prior to RSA North America Register and get the early-bird rate before Dec. 17 This event is being jointly produced by the Kantara Initiative and IIW producers (Doc Searls, Phil Windley and Kaliya Hamlin) - Identity Commons. Join us in connecting the big enterprise resources with individual contributors (big and small) The focus of this event will be to explore the emerging synergies between the user-centric and enterprise communities. On-going perceptions of a struggle between these two communities have been written about and explored by some of the brightest minds in the identity management and privacy spaces. However, given this event takes place on Valentine’s Day the, Identity Collaboration Day will take the inverse approach and focus on what these groups actually have in common and how we can, and ARE, working together to leverage the sweet spots within both areas of approach. We hope that you’ll join us in working to dispel negative competitive perceptions and work towards harmonized approaches for the good of all! We imagine a whole range of interesting topics that user-centric and enterprise communities contribute to will be put forth. You can see the range of topics covered at the most recent IIW in November here on their wiki. Kantara's current list of working groups is here and latest announcements can be found here. So.... if you are involved in the Identity Commons or Kantara Initiative, OIX, Open ID or Information Cards come and spend a day collaborating together! Like IIW, the agenda will be created live the day of the event by the participants. Ideas for session topics are gathered as attendees register and they will be shared online leading up to the event. Due to the many different activities happening on the Monday before RSA, we have divided the day into 2 distinct sessions – morning and afternoon. Tickets are available for the entire day or for just the Morning or Afternoon session. Agenda creation will happen a second time just after lunch at the beginning of the Afternoon session. The venue is in downtown San Francisco, just a short walking distance, cab or subway ride from the RSA Convention Center. 2 new reports from the Kantara Initiative Information Sharing Work Group (ISWG)

We’re happy to share two new reports created by Kantara Initiative’s Information Sharing Work Group (ISWG). The first report, The Information Sharing Report, is a Work Group Report of the Kantara Initiative’s Information Sharing Work Group based on a comprehensive literature review. Research and report by Mark Lizar, with contributions from Joe Andrieu, Judi Clark, and Iain Henderson. A special thanks also to Eve Maler for her contributions. The second report, the Personal RFP Engagement Model Report, is a Work Group Report of the Kantara Initiative’s Information Sharing Work Group based on Step 3 in the ISWG’s Car Buying Engagement Model. Both reports have been approved by Kantara Initiative’s Leadership Council and can be found on our Reports page. We encourage your participation in the ISWG. NOTICE: Kantara Initiative SAML 2.0 Interop Test Dates Adjusted - Registration Extended

Kantara Initiative - SAML 2.0 Interoperability Test Test Plan ver3.3 Hello - This message is serves as notice of the updated SAML 2.0 Interoperability testing schedule. In order to allow more participants the opportunity to register as well as to better leverage resources the SAML 2.0 Interoperability test has been rescheduled to begin January 6th and end February 24th (2011). We continue to accept registrations for the Kantara Initiative Interoperability Certification for SAML 2.0 test event. Registration concludes on Thursday December 30, 2010 To register visit: http://signup.kantarainitiative.org/event/. Registration fees: SAML 2.0 Interop Test Plan ver3.3: $16,000 per product with version Testing Location No travel is required. Participants will test over the internet from their own respective sites and communicate daily via conference calls and mail list server. Schedule August 2: Registration BEGINS December 30: Registration deadline January 6 (2011): SAML 2.0 Tests starts February 24 (2011): Test ends Why Have Your SAML Product Kantara Initiative Interoperability Certified? The SAML standard continues to be one of the most widely adopted identity management standards in the world. With industries from around the globe adopting SAML, the critical identity information that flows over SAML represents millions of identities each year. To ensure that identity information is securely handled, Kantara Initiative full- matrix interoperability certification is mission critical for these industries. There are typically some 6-8 participating products from around the globe participating in each round of testing with some 500 SAML transactions performed. Kantara Initiative selected Drummond Group, the trusted interoperability test lab, as its testing partner. Drummond Group has a proven track record of certification of interoperability of software, having tested hundreds of products from around the globe in a variety of standards. What will be tested? The Kantara Initiative SAML 2.0 test criteria test plan covers the required functionality through documented test steps. Version 3.3 of the test plan was finalized last month and will be used in this year’s test event. It will be similar to last year’s version 3.2.2 but also includes the new eGov 2.0 profile. You can find thetest plan at: http://kantarainitiative.org/confluence/display/certification/SAML+2.0+Full… eGov profiles vs. 1.5 and 2.0 will be tested in this upcoming test event. The SAML 2.0 eGovernment Profile 2.0 reflects the features deemed necessary or desirable from software implementations in support of a variety of deployment profiles planned and in use for government identity management. One aspect of this version of the profile that is particularly interesting is the inclusion of Metadata and Trust Management support. Interested or have questions?
