Thank you Roger, and the Board, and all of you in the community for allowing me and helping me to serve you as your Executive Director over these past few months (and those of you from Liberty Alliance, over these past several years). I especially want to thank Joni Brennan, Dervla O'Reilly, Britta Glade and the other key personnel whose shoulders I was fortunate enough to stand on through each and every project, program, and initiative along the way. Together we have created an optimized and best-of-breed forum for the development of open standard operational frameworks, protocol harmonization, industry guidance and product & services certification. Whatever the future may hold, this will always be an achievement I'll be proud to have played a part in. But if you thought you were getting rid of me, think again! I will continue to be involved in driving open standards and standards-based services into the mainstream. It is an absolute honor for me to announce I will continue to serve the Internet standards community in my new position as Technology Evangelist at PayPal. Given PayPal is a founding Trustee of Kantara Initiative, don't expect to miss me any time soon. More later... but for now I am completely focused on being your Executive Director for the next two weeks to ensure a smooth hand-off to my replacement. So without further ado, I'm going back to the grind stone. Onward and upward! || Brett McDowell, Executive Director, Kantara Initiative On Jan 28, 2010, at 6:18 PM, Roger Sullivan wrote:
Colleagues, It is with very mixed emotions that I inform you that Brett McDowell is resigning as Executive Director of Kantara Initiative as of February 10th to pursue another (great) employment opportunity.
We are truly sad to see him go with all that he has contributed to both Liberty Alliance and Kantara Initiative over these past many years. Unceasingly positive, unfailingly energetic, and a walking encyclopedia about the Identity space, he has made our lives so much better for having walked (raced) with us on this journey. But, we are genuinely happy for him in this new opportunity and are confident that Brett will do very well indeed.
Brett, on behalf of all of your friends at Kantara Initiative and beyond, congratulations and good fortune with your new adventure and thank you most sincerely for what you’ve done for us.
Needless to say, we are looking for a new Executive Director for Kantara Initiative. The Board of Trustees has established a search committee to fill the position. If you or someone you know might be interested, please inquire at: ksearch@elists.isoc.org
