Well, we have been officially accepted as a Kantara Initiative Discussion Group!


Amazingly, I received 12 votes from a group of 14 on meeting times, and Friday at 9 am PT/Noon ET worked for 12 of 12 who voted.   So that is the time for our weekly meeting.  


We are planning our very first meeting this week, on Friday, January 30.  I will send out a formal invite tomorrow. 


I am waiting for confirmation that our group  Wiki is up. Once it is, I will share the link and ask that everyone complete the Group Participation Agreement (GPA). I am new to leading a Kantara discussion group, and I find the Wiki interface to be a confusing and uncooperative beast, so I ask in advance for your patience and support. 



We will have some housekeeping to take care of at our first meeting, and beyond that, I would like to propose a bit of brainstorming about what this group should be and what we hope to accomplish. As I mentioned in a previous email, I am truly passionate about this topic. It is a proverbial bone I have been chewing on for 20 years, and I have some strong feelings about what Id like to see, which I am sure will come as a shock to those who know me (/sarcasm).  


Having said that, I am super interested in finding out what everyone in the group thinks we can and should accomplish, and I look forward to a consensus-based collaboration to create something truly useful. 


Here is the preliminary agenda. I will upload this to the Wiki (hopefully) by Thursday.


  1. ADMIN:

    1. Attendance
    2. Remind participants to complete the GPA
    3. Review the Wiki space and meeting note template (Wiki add/edit access is ONLY for participants with a completed GPA)

  2. ACTION: Elect Officers
    1. According to the Discussion Group Operation Procedures 
      1. A DG shall have one or more Chairs elected from the DG Participants.
      2. The DG may designate one Chair as the DG Chair with the other Chairs as DG Vice- Chairs; or, the DG may designate one or more Chairs as DG Co-Chairs.
      3. At least one DG Chair shall be a Member of Kantara Initiative.
      4. If required for creation of documents or specifications, the DG may designate one or more Editors from the DG Participants.
      5. The elected DG roles are collectively the DG Leadership Team.
      6. A DG Secretary position is optional.

  3.  GROUP BRAINSTORM - Who do we want to be?  What do we want to accomplish?  
    1. We may finish this or we may just get started.
