Good afternoon and welcome to the BIT Mailing list:
Thank you for your patience as I navigated some technical difficulties related to the mailing list set-up!  As noted below, the BIT DG has been formally launched at Kantara Initiative.  I'll be finishing up the admin pieces shortly (including the webpage, Wiki, etc).  We are excited to get started on the work!

To jump-start communications, I've added those who signed up with initial interest to this mailing list (please let me know if you wish to unsubscribe!) as well as the DG proposers and sponsors.

**Note:GPA must be completed (including the proposers/sponsors) before you are an official part of the Group.  You may stay on the mailing list as a subscriber/observer, but you will not be listed on the roster or given certain privileges on the Wiki space.

In order to set up the 1st call, a Doodle poll or something similar will be needed to establish general time/day availability.  Paul - please feel free to reach out directly in order to get this started!

Finally - for those who are also Members of Kantara, don't forget to register for next week's AGM meeting!

Thank you to all of you for your interest in the BIT DG, and we look forward to your progress!

Best,
-Amanda

Good morning all:
We are excited to announce the launch of two new Discussion Groups at Kantara Initiative:
  • Blinding Identity Taxonomy Discussion Group (BIT DG):  BIT aims to evolve and maintain the Blinding Identity Taxonomy as an informative taxonomy for identifying and managing personally identifiable information (PII) and quasi-identifiable information (QII), establishing it as a Kantara product and producing a Blinding Identity Taxonomy Report 2.0 and a BIT Supplementary Report 2.0.
  • Shadow AI in the Workplace Discussion Group (Shadow AI DG): The rapid adoption of generative AI tools such as ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, and other AI-powered applications has led to a growing phenomenon known as “Shadow AI”, the unsanctioned use of AI tools by employees without the knowledge or approval of their organization. While these tools can significantly enhance productivity, creativity, and efficiency, they also introduce serious risks.  Shadow AI will explore the causes, implications, and mitigation strategies related to Shadow AI in enterprise environments. The anticipated output is a report that outlines the risks, organizational vulnerabilities, and practical countermeasures.
To participate in one or both, please complete the Kantara GPA, and the staff will add you to the mailing list. The first meeting date will be announced shortly via each Group’s list.  Please forward to any interested parties in your network!

Thank you for your involvement and support of Kantara Initiative!

Best,
-Amanda
