I think that's a good idea to hold off. Kantara has a Board meeting this week too. On Thurs. Ian, we are starting to plan our events for next year. Most of the usual suspects on the identity side but we are also in a consortium with 3 others for a privacy-related gig next month which is a new thing for us, albeit not identity focussed. The formative list is: TIIME, KNOW (a panel on conformity assessment), EIC, Identiverse but no pre-Conf workshop available this year, maybe EEMA in June. One or more of these may have an in -person plenary attached but too early to confirm. I hope that helps as a baseline on things we could discuss collaboration on. Separation Agreement

Folks I haven't had a response from others on the re-wriiten draft from IDPro. I used 'Compare' in MSWord to see where it had changed from the original, analysed those and forwarded to Counsel. That resulted in some limited changes coming back, to which I accepted some, but not all, to get us to a point where I think we/I could convince the Kantara Board to accept it. It would be nice if the ID Pro Board could do likewise. I'm not going to enter into a debate about the intent of the original draft and the changes to the draft forwarded by ID Pro a couple of weeks back. Because in the end, we are where we are. Take a look and Reply All with anything that you think you absolutely cannot support and support to your respective Boards ASAP please. But for certain by Friday midday Eastern, so that it remains possible to get the draft and a motion to accept, into the Kantara Board's reading package in advance of its meeting Thursday October 19th. FYI: Revised ID Pro Separation Agreement

Folks You will see that the ID Pro SC call was cancelled today. My intention was to get this email to you beforehand so you could use the time that would have been devoted to the call, to reading through this document. Unfortunately, I had too much inbound, owing to vacation and CIW the week before. So here is that email now, along with a significantly revised version from ID Pro. I think you all had seen the original version, either via the Kantara Board or the ID Pro Board, with the Kantara Board's review eliciting 3 comments. This morning Virtual and I received this revised draft, attached. Below please find an extract from Ian's email accompanying the revised draft. "IDPRo's Board in conjunction with its counsel has consolidated its comments into the attached. Our starting place for the comments and changes is one of mutual success: we want Kantara and IDPro to be successful during and after the separation and we want a successful ongoing relationship. Although it may appear that we have done a wholesale re-write of the agreement, but that is not the case. We attempted to do two major things: streamline the agreement and ensure reciprocity in terms of opportunities and protections". >From Kantara's perspective, since ID Pro's response is not a clause by clause response, but a substantial rewrite, I won't be asking the main Board nor the Board SC for their comments just yet, until this has had Counsel review and my review of those, so that we get back to the position we got to a couple of weeks ago after a long haul through the summer, of being able to discuss and seek comments on a limited set of points of substance. But meanwhile, please read and collect your thoughts and comments, while I work it through with Virtual's/Kantara's Counsel. Join Experience

Hey, I'm building out the join experience today and tomorrow. Here's the flow I'm envisioning: 1. Form with name, title, org, email address 2. Code of conduct with checkbox to agree 3. Redirect to paypal and pay 4. Redirect back to IDPro "welcome to the org" page 5. Someone manually adds them to the mailman list (I'm sure we can find a way to automate that later) 6. Someone sends them a welcome email (again, automate that later) Thoughts? Any steps I'm missing? Anything that could make the experience awesomer? MSFT and Deloitte cannot find funding

All - Both Microsoft and Deloitte are struggling to find funding for IDPro at this time. This is certainly a disappointment and I am pushing them to find a way to fund at a lower membership level. Mike Jones did include the follow in the conversation I was having with him and Alex. It's worth a read. His concerns are genuine and I am glad he shared them. -- Mike's text starts here -- Hi Ian, Microsoft had developed the following feedback to help IDPro be successful. We were hoping to send this to you at the same time as we secured funding for our participation but I wanted to make sure that you had it nonetheless, so that IDPro could act upon it. Ian, we’re really excited about the opportunity here and the positive industry impact it can have. We want to make sure that it is aligned with the key industry standards and leverages existing successful models. To that end, we’d like to propose the following: We believe that the International Information System Security Certification Consortium (ISC)2 has done an excellent task of setting the criteria for the CISSP certification. The concept appeals to use where different companies can provide training and also administer certification tests for a CISSP. There are a vast number of already certified CISSP professionals out in the industry and it would make perfect sense to take advantage of the general certification process and further refine the (ISC)2 requirements for their track on Identity and Access Management and make this a full fledge certification in conjunction with CISSP this way we can pull from the vast number of CISSP professionals and also have the benefit of the knowledge that they have gained from the CISSP certification. Therefore, we’d like you to coordinate with (ISC)2 to achieve this alignment. In particular, we’d like assurances that any IDPro certifications will occur through (ISC)2 and not be created from whole cloth by IDPro. Creating and validating certification tests is a labor and money intensive process. We’d rather see IDPro’s resources be spent promoting Identity and Access certifications run by an existing organization than trying to produce a competitive product. Please get back to us with the results of this coordination. For what it’s worth, I have personal experience being on the board of an organization (USENIX) that created, ran, and ultimately shut down a custom certification program (Certified Professional System Administrators). I'd like your feedback before I start to alter my keynote. Should we deliver a keynote which is an update, recognize Pledge and DG members, and indicate our future plans?
