Good morning all:
New Groups are coming to Kantara in Fall 2025 - See below for details, landing pages, and sign-up forms.
  • Biometric Data Discussion Group (Biometrics DG): The Biometric Data Discussion Group (Biometrics) will address the management, security, and privacy of biometric data, from collection to destruction, with a focus on practical application and GDPR compliance. While standards do exist, they are often inaccessible to non-experts and there is a need to decode and translate existing standards into a straightforward, practical guide for real-world application.  Biometrics will develop a set of recommendations and best practices for biometric data management to serve as practical guidance for use alongside the standards. More information is available here. To sign up, please complete this submission form.
  • Blinding Identity Taxonomy Discussion Group (BIT DG): BIT aims to evolve and maintain the Blinding Identity Taxonomy as an informative taxonomy for identifying and managing personally identifiable information (PII) and quasi-identifiable information (QII), establishing it as a Kantara product and producing a Blinding Identity Taxonomy Report 2.0 and a BIT Supplementary Report 2.0. More information and a draft proposal are available here. To sign up, please complete this submission form.

  • Shadow AI in the Workplace Discussion Group (Shadow AI DG): The rapid adoption of generative AI tools such as ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, and other AI-powered applications has led to a growing phenomenon known as “Shadow AI”, the unsanctioned use of AI tools by employees without the knowledge or approval of their organization. While these tools can significantly enhance productivity, creativity, and efficiency, they also introduce serious risks.  Shadow AI will explore the causes, implications, and mitigation strategies related to Shadow AI in enterprise environments. The anticipated output is a report that outlines the risks, organizational vulnerabilities, and practical countermeasures. More information and a draft charter are available here. To sign up, please complete this submission form.

  • Trusted Transaction Assurance Work Group (TTA WG): The digital identity landscape is at a pivotal moment. The release of NIST SP 800-63 v4 provides a modern, modular framework for identity proofing, and Kantara's US Assurance Program is poised to develop the corresponding assessment criteria. While these developments are foundational, they leave critical market-level and downstream challenges unaddressed. This working group will address these challenges directly, creating the market-enabling frameworks necessary to unlock the full potential of a componentized, high-assurance identity ecosystem.More information and a draft charter are available here. To sign up or submit a charter comment, please complete this submission form.

WG Chairs: please continue to share these details in your calls and forward to your mailing lists and encourage interested parties to sign up!

Directors:  Please share with anyone at your organization that may be interested in participating!

Reach out with any questions or concerns.

Best,

-Amanda
