Andrew, If the defrocking of the IAWG was not mandated by 17065, but an org design choice; then it does beg the question of what was the impetus is for moving away from the process that was previously successful. I’m not sure I have a dog in the fight, but I am curious. What I do think is important is understanding the following: * The disposition of the 800-63-3 criteria maintenance actions. * We were working on several items, we need to know how they will be brought to conclusion. * Several items were handed off and we need to know their status as well * In some cases, these items are quite urgent. The NIST Syncable Authenticator supplement is more than a year old, and we still have not concluded that effort – and it has been an issue for many assessments. * I am hoping (and I suspect) that we will see at least some version of our action list that addresses this? * And we need to know how future maintenance actions are to be handled. SP 800-63-3 assessments are going on as we speak and our community is full of creative types that will explore the nuances and ambiguities of our criteria - we will continue to find items in the criteria that will require consideration. We need to know how that is be handled and where those items should be directed. I don’t know that I would call it pushback and flames, but I was one of those who advocated for us continuing in our role supporting the criteria. Our community and our CSPs continue to pursue assessments, so that effort was and continues to be necessary. The questions above extend from that same thinking; how is the criteria to be supported in timely manner, in the wake of the IAWG? And, Andrew, you are not suggesting the IAWG had any say in its destiny? I thought its destiny was one of today’s topics.
