Subject: Welcome to the Digital Identity in Public Benefits Community of Practice!
Hi Noreen,
Hello and welcome to the Digital Benefits Network's (DBN) Digital Identity Community of Practice (CoP)!
This community came about after DBN research and stakeholder engagement revealed the need for a dedicated space for practitioners across the ecosystem to address challenges related to digital identity. This CoP specifically seeks to promote the delivery of public benefits to all eligible individuals, including vulnerable populations, by informing how digital identity approaches should be used (appropriately, responsibly, equitably, and effectively) in public benefits delivery. We're so glad to have you join us in this effort!
To help you get started, I've attached a slide deck that outlines our mission, goals, focus areas, and the various types of activities our CoP engages in. This will give you an overview of our work and how you fit into the overall community.
I’ll also be inviting you to join the DBN’s Slack workspace, where you can connect with other Digital Identity CoP members, participate in ongoing discussions, and share your insights and experiences. Please be on the lookout for our invitation following this message!
For more information about digital identity and the DBN’s research, please visit the Digital Identity page on the Digital Government Hub. There, you'll find resources, case studies, and the latest updates on the topic.
RSVP to our next event!
- We’re excited to invite you to the first Q+ A hosted by the Digital Identity Community of Practice, Prioritizing Access and Safety: Q&A on Service Design in Digital Identity (Wednesday, March 5 from 2-3 pm EST). Join this session to hear considerations from civil rights technologists and human-centered design practitioners about ways to ensure program security while simultaneously promoting equity, enabling accessibility and minimizing bias in identity verification for public benefits programs. Following brief presentations, attendees will have the opportunity to ask the presenters questions about their work or seek feedback pertaining to relevant challenges. Registration for this event is for CoP Members.
Know someone who would like to join the CoP? Invite them to join the CoP and we’ll reach out with next steps!
If you have any questions or ideas to share, please don't hesitate to reach out to me directly or post in our Slack channel.
Welcome aboard!
