Our June Newsletter! | Women In Identity ✉️ 🚨 Is your ID team falling behind?
Welcome to our 2025 June Newsletter!
Dear Noreen
Our latest research launched to wide acclaim and found that ID Inclusion is good for business.
Women in Identity is committed to diversity and inclusion because we believe the best identity products are created by all for all. Building on our research about the human impact of identity exclusion, we commissioned Professor Edgar Whitley at the London School of Economics to undertake research to better understand the business impact of identity exclusion. We can now say that being ID Inclusive can have a positive impact on the bottom line. Download the Economic Impact of ID Inclusion report - here. Please share with your networks and identity teams who may benefit from the findings.
Rather than organisations addressing the unhappy path for inclusion, the report suggests framing organisational responses in terms of widening the happy path. Framed this way, the tasks (and associated costs) that organisations undertake to be more inclusive mean that fewer individuals will find themselves on the unhappy path - rather than the unhappy path being something that needs to be supported. Identity inclusion then becomes a strategic objective and opportunity for identity organisations. The outcome of taking this attitude to service design is a potential economic benefit - widening the happy path increases cost effectiveness as there are less costs associated with customers on the happy path, and in turn could widen your customer base.
Jeremy Grant at the Better Identity Coalition has said about the report, “The report does an excellent job of laying out not only the costs and penalties that individuals face when they can’t easily get an ID - but also the ways that those problems can inhibit economic growth in a country by effectively excluding people from parts of the economy or making it harder for them to get ahead.”
We are also excited to announce our research partner for the next phase - the development of the ID Code of Conduct principles. Read on to find out more about this innovative identity company we have commissioned to deliver this important work.
Thank you to our volunteers, sponsors and partners. A special thank you to the sponsors of the ID Code of Conduct and industry expert, Nick Mothershaw for his continued work on the ID Code of Conduct, as well as the London School of Economics research team.
