Andrea Hansen-Miller, a licensed clinical social worker who helps homeless people, runs her office out of the Minneapolis Central Library, offering visitors snacks, warm clothes, assistance finding housing, and mental-health support. “The police regularly clear the city’s streets of encampments, but officers don’t run unhoused people out of Central,” Paige Williams explains <https://link.newyorker.com/click/35479095.991350/aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cubmV3eW9ya2…> in this in-depth, on-the-ground report from Minnesota. “As long as they follow the rules, any patron—and everyone at the library is called a patron—can stay all day, every day.” Such policies make the library a natural place for social workers to meet individuals where they are likely to be—but not everyone who works there has the training or skills necessary to assist unhoused people, many of whom are in crisis. “A lot of people come into the public library, or go into librarianship, and are shocked by the fact that it’s not their childhood library,” one librarian at Central explains. “It can be exhausting to see so many people who need so much, or who have so little.” In these ways, as Williams explores, the library is a mirror, reflecting our shared social distress, while also offering insights into how we must adapt to better support those in need.

He specifically commented: "We have focused on the data that needs to flow from the Verifier to the User Device in order to ensure that the data displayed to the holder will be appropriate to the purpose specified and so that the holder can make an informed consent for themselves or for the subject that has delegated the authority to make a decision for that subject. It is expected that this data will flow from the verifier to the user's device so that the device can make the decision about the appropriate user agent (or wallet) to handle the request. It is up to the device and the user agent to form the UX for holder consent. Other arrangements of the device and agent are, of course, possible. Now that we have approved the final DII draft and delivered it to the LC, let's revisit the question Tom asked: Is there any particular action RIUP should take to help assure alignment? Last week there was an impromptu session to address this question with Tom, Noreen and Justin and we will do it again this coming Tuesday, May 28, 2024. As you know we are on a fast track, within our WG, in an attempt to approve the DII document next week so we can forward it to the Leadership Counsel this month. I too, agree, and think we need to make an attempt to quantify at least 2 questions with a use case in mind: 1) How could a refugee generate a beneficial value for a local economy, industry or 'a defined sector'? (community assessment) 2) What core services does an immigrant or refugee need to help them utilize their strengths or skills that would benefit a community? 3) How does a community understand defined culture inorder to assist refugees in accessing services or resources. Personas The following 4 personas were selected as representing the edges of the user space which includes two people that are fully functional in a digital world and two that are not. 1. Abbey, the soccer mom balancing a work life with a family at home. Abbey’s household consists of her, a spouse and one child with a smartphone and one that is too young to trust with a smartphone and is about to enter school for the first time. 2. Ichiro, the computer professional Ichiro works for a large multinational as a contractor at home. He has a laptop issued by the company and his personal phone that he also uses for business purposes. He wants to keep his business and personal access separate. His wife has dementia and cannot be relied on to handle her phone by herself. 3. Juan, the severely disabled adult dependent on a support system Juan’s caregiver has a phone that is assigned to Juan as it contains his medical history as well as a care plan that must be followed to assure his continued health. Juan’s phone travels with him whenever he needs to go to the hospital for treatment, which is frequent. The caregivers at all of these locations can access and update data for Juan on his smartphone. 4. Maya, the teenager who is alone on the streets Maya, a teenager with a malfunctioning kidney, left a home environment that was extremely hostile and lives on the streets where she has a constant struggle to stay safe on cold nights and deal with her continuing kidney disease. She depends on her smart phone for access to social services.
